Willows for bees 2

Willow blossom proffers a great service during the spring months by providing an early source of nectar and pollen for foraging bees. Without this rich food source many bees would perish. This collection provides a range of willows that will keep your bees happy by producing a prolific show of catkins throughout the spring.

You will get five 25cm cuttings each of the following species:

• S. koriyanagi - Japanese relative of S. purpurea flowering in February with curling female catkins
• S. purpurea Goat - vigorous willow with golden pussy willows in March
• S. burjatica Korso - silky stems and large catkins emerging in early March
• S. glaucophylloides - vigorous willow with green stems and red buds and female catkins in late March - become spiky when fertilised
• S. triandra Black Hollander- long arching golden male catkins produced in April/May
